Dr. Matthew Sorenson, PHD, APRN, ANP-C, FAAN
Dr. Matthew Sorenson is Professor and Associate Dean (Graduate Education) at Texas A&M University (College Station). Prior to coming to Texas, he was at DePaul University in Chicago for 15 years where he served as Director of the School of Nursing for three years. Previously, he served as Program Director of the Masters Entry to Nursing Practice at DePaul for approximately five years. Other administrative experience includes activity as a nurse manager overseeing units targeting adult populations. Post-doctoral education includes a three-year fellowship with the neurology service at Edward Hines Jr. VA Hospital (Focus on Multiple Sclerosis) and a year-long fellowship in Disability Ethics through the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago (now Shirley Ryan Ability Lab). Clinically, his work is focused on individuals with spinal cord injury and multiple sclerosis He is an Adult Nurse Practitioner, working primarily with street outreach programs targeting the homeless and working poor. As an educator, he teaches program evaluation and pharmacology. His research focuses on immunologic correlates of fatigue, particularly in those with MS. He is Editor in Chief of Chronic Illness (Sage).
